What Is Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissues of your body, including:

  • Muscles
  • Tendons
  • Ligaments
  • Connective tissue; and
  • Skin

Using varying degrees of pressure, our massage therapists will use their hands, forearms, and elbows treat the soft tissues of your body.  Our massage therapists have a vast range of training in different techniques and will utilize the specific option which best suits your current condition.

Many medical centers offer massage therapy as a part of an integrative treatment plan to help alleviate:

  • Headaches
  • Whiplash
  • Neck Pain
  • Back Pain
  • Muscle Pain
  • Work Injuries
  • Stress
  • Sciatica
  • Tight Muscles; and
  • Lack of Flexibility

In addition, massage can be used to:

  • Improve immune function
  • Increase relaxation
  • Promote circulation; and
  • Enhance wellness

Massage can be used as a complementary treatment to chiropractic care and acupuncture or on its own.

  • A board-approved written exam to qualify for licensing.

Cascade Spine & Injury Center massage therapists are trained in several types of massage to relax both your body and your mind, and all massages are conducted in a tranquil atmosphere.

Massage Therapy Care FAQs

What Are the Benefits of Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy prompts the release of endorphins, which are the “feel-good” brain chemicals responsible for the immediate feeling of relaxation during a massage.

Not only does massage increase the level of endorphins your body produces, but it also reduces harmful stress hormones, such as norepinephrine, adrenalin, and cortisol, all of which can impair the immune system.

Additional benefits of massage therapy include:

  • Reduced depression and anxiety
  • Stimulation of the lymphatic system
  • Reduced muscle tension
  • Increased flexibility and joint mobility
  • Improved circulation
  • Recovery of soft tissue damage or injuries

Are There Any Side Effects of Massage Therapy?

The side effects of massage therapy are temporary and usually go away within a couple of days of your treatment. Most reactions are minor and may include:

  • Lingering soreness
  • Muscle fatigue or aches
  • Headaches
  • Sleepiness
  • Heat or redness of the skin
  • Inflammation; and
  • Nausea

Do You Accept Health Insurance?

Yes, we accept insurance. Types of insurance that we accept include:

  • Auto Insurance/PIP/MedPay
  • Worker’s Compensation
  • Providence
  • Regence Blue Cross/Blue Shield

  • First Choice Health Network

If you don’t have insurance, don’t fret. We are more than happy to provide treatment to patients regardless if they have insurance or not.

How Long Will My Visits Take?

Your massage therapy appointment will last one hour, but you should plan for an extra 10 minutes ahead of and after the appointment to allow for undressing and dressing.

How Many Visits Will I Need?

The number of visits required will depend entirely on:

  • The type of condition that needs treatment
  • Whether you’re receiving additional treatment, such as acupuncture or chiropractic care; and
  • Your commitment to your health and well-being

Your massage therapist will work with you and your other healthcare providers to develop a treatment plan that is unique to your specific needs.
