Why you shouldn't wait to Get Auto Injury Treatment

A number of scientific studies show that when a patient gets early treatment soon after a crash, they have a better outcome than those patients who wait.

During a crash, the tissues of your neck can be stretched or torn. You may not feel pain right away but as the tissues become swollen and inflamed patients often wake up the next day with a sore, stiff neck. These symptoms are signs of trauma to the ligaments and muscles of your neck and the body responds by restricting movement to heal the injury by sending white blood cells to the area.

Your body will then begin repairing injured the area by laying down scar tissue, the problem with scar tissue is that it reduces the already limited range of motion in your neck; which if not treated properly can result in permanent limited mobility, chronic pain and even spinal degeneration of the joints.

Getting early treatment will break up this pattern by increasing movement in the injured area and prevents the development of scar tissue.

Pain and stiffness are signs of trauma to the ligaments and muscles of your neck. The body’s response to injury is to restrict movement and to heal the injury by sending white blood cells to the area. Your body will then begin repairing the injured area by laying down scar tissue.

The problem with scar tissue is that each joint in your neck has a fairly limited range of motion. Scar tissue reduces that motion even more, and if you don’t receive proper treatment, that can result in permanent limited mobility, chronic pain, and even spinal degeneration of the joints.

Headaches

Headaches are a common problem that can be triggered by many different factors, from stress to an undiagnosed spinal injury.

Those headaches that can be traced to disorders in the neck are called cervicogenic headaches, and this type of headache may affect as many as 20% of patients experiencing chronic head pain.

Although their symptoms are similar to those of tension headaches and migraines, cervicogenic headaches are often a result of injury or other trauma.

New research published in Chiropractic & Osteopathy supports the case for using chiropractic spinal manipulation to treat cervicogenic headaches.

Neck Pain

Neck pain is a common pain symptom experienced by most of us. Most neck pain begins with some kind of trauma, but sometimes the origin is difficult to identify.

With all neck pain—no matter what the cause—the pain itself tells us that there is some kind of problem in the functioning of the different parts of the spine.

The human spine is an amazingly versatile and complex structure that provides support, protects the internal organs and nervous system, but at the same time allows incredible flexibility and movement.

Shoulder Pain

Many patients experience shoulder pain after a collision. Learn more about the two main causes of shoulder pain in this video.

Back Pain

Low back pain is a very common pain symptom. One out of three of us suffer from some kind of back pain every year, and many people live with chronic spinal pain.

The good news is that chiropractic has been shown over and over to be an effective treatment of back pain. Here’s a collection of videos that discuss how chiropractic can help in the treatment of back pain.
